GMC Vin decode help
I searched and found this http://67-72chevytrucks.com/Chevyear.html but its way off for a GMC I'm looking at.
The VIN is KM1590DZC1009A I hope it matches up with what I believe the truck to be. Thanks in advance, Jud

Re: GMC Vin decode help
Yeah, '67 GMC VIN numbers are a bit different than Chevys. Anyway, off the top of my head you got a 1/2 ton 4X4 with the GMC V-6 in it.

Re: GMC Vin decode help
The 67 GMC's are very similar to the 66 numbers.
K= 4x4 M= V6 1= 1/2 ton 59= cab to rear axle dimension. LWB I think. OD= wide side box Z= Fremont CA plant C= 1967 1009= sequence # A= 6000 GVW or less. I have a GMC that I bought that is a 67 short wheel base that is 4x4 and a v6. My vin number has a 57 where yours is 59 and my sequence # is only about 40 off from your truck. All other digits are the same. Tell us more about your truck. Last edited by 75gmc454; 01-12-2011 at 11:22 PM. |

Re: GMC Vin decode help
Thanks! Yes, it matches up exactly with what you decoded ('67, lwb, fleet, 305v6, 4x4, 1/2 ton) Its an oregon truck so Fremont would make sense. Sent down payment today!! I'm going to do a new thread for the truck when I get it home!
Do you know anything about the sequence #?

Re: GMC Vin decode help
That sounds good.
The sequence # is just truck #. I guess they started with 1001, but I don't know if that is for all trucks or just 1/2 ton 4x4's. Maybe a GMC expert can help with this. I have a very similar situation. My truck is still in California, but I have already paid for it. What are you going to do about shipping your truck to MN. |

Re: GMC Vin decode help
I should also mention it is a big back window, not sure if that explains the model # though.
I just sent payment a few hours ago and haven't figured it out yet. I'll probably post in the regional forum here for that region and see if they can recommend anyone to ship. I'd consider driving it but this truck doesn't even run and has been sitting 5 years. I could use a road trip but then again it'd be through the mountains in winter so that could be a bad decison. Bottom line- I need to do some thinking.
