wipers wont stop

82 with the dash switch and intermittent, sometimes they stick on and are hard to stop, tonight they came on by themselves and wouldn't stop all the way home. I can tell the difference if I switch it to high, but low, intermittent, off and mist are now all low. Is it the switch? Anyone seen this?

Re: wipers wont stop

Yes buddy its the switch. My 81 c10 was doing the same thing. I removed the fuse one night and it started to rain really hard. I had to pull over to pop that sucker back in there..lol

Re: wipers wont stop

My 82 did the same thing.. and the switch fixed it.

To get mine to stop I had to turn the truck off for a few seconds. Also sometimes while driving the wipers would cycle once... about every 15-30 mins. That was after I had replaced the switch once, but it had been quite a few years.

Re: wipers wont stop

Haha, i was reading the recent posts and saw this at the top. I know in the 70-81 camaros with hideaway wipers it is a resistor in the wiper motor that doesn't let it go back to park. I guess ill try changing my switch because my washer pumps always on when my wipers are on, and its annoying in the rain.

i had similar troubles even after changing the switch and intermittant "brain" from a donor truck. When I bought a new wiper motor (super cheep at auto zone) it behaved.
