Just got stopped by a cop

He pulled me over for using my Cell while driving. Bad me. I usually don't do that but was talking to another truck guy about some parts.

He gave me truck (1980 3/4 flat black) a good look at on his way back to the car. I have historic plates on her and they are supposed to be used for Parades and car shows only. I had lots of time to get a good story going while he wrote another car a ticket.

Turns out he was a cool one, just told him I brought the truck out to have the new dash installed. I carefully told him I was a high school teacher. His answer was, nice truck, stay off the phone, off you go.

Lucky he was a truck guy.

Completely false, at least here in MN.

To run historic or collector plates, you can only drive the vehicle to/from shows, parades, or for car repairs.

Thats the beauty of living in Indiana. Not only is most of the state blind to emissions controls, but historic plates just limit the number of miles driven in a year. At least that is how my friends 1972 Olds 442 W30 is regulated.

I geuss im lucky to have a friend who is a IL state trooper LOL I asked him last year about tinting my windows He said Jeff you cant do it Thats what the law says I told him I was going to do it anyway becuse my truck dosent have airAnd I keep the windows down Then they passed a law they I could tint my windows boy did I rub it in LOL As far as the cell phone thing I see that around here on a daily bases had a women about run into my truck becuse she was on the phone and not watching here driveing good thing for her she didnt hit it

I've been debating getting one of these for the truck. I'd never turn it off uless I had to make a call. Hypocrite: YES, Amused: YES, that is all.

I'd feel safer on the freeway knowing there was a 50 meter circle around me with no phones.

Cell Phone Jammer.

I also want the hand held version one day too.

I cant see that being legal be careful putting that in your truck because if a cop sees it i cant see that being a good night.

In Maryland the cops don't seem to care,no matter what the law is. It's the insurance company you need to worry about. But,you can always get normal insurance and register it historic. The only advantage would be no inspection (one time deal when changing ownership).

I think the cell phone law is BS. First they outlawed texting,a good move. Now,only hands-free phones are allowed. Anybody who can't use a phone and drive right will still be a dangerous driver w/o a phone. I can drive just fine while on the phone. With a hands-free you still have to dial or look up numbers and that's the same danger as texting. There is already a distractive driving violation and that is where irresponsible cell phone use falls. If an officer sees someone driving irresponsibly due to cell phone use they should enforce that law. You can still eat,use your GPS,read,write notes,use a computer,stare at pretty women,change CDs,carry on a distractive conversation with your passenger,and on and on. The problem is,no matter what else you are doing,when driving a motor vehicle "that" must remain your primary function. Everyone all around you is dependent on you for their safety. You are driving a lethal weapon and should never take it for granted.

Time to invest in bluetooth if your phone has one, they are not expensive:

These usually work with the talk-to-dial with most bluetooth enabled phones. Push one button and say "call home" and it dials without any need to look at the phone.


As for the jammer, those are illegal... and add in the fact that people will start looking at their phones seeing why they lost the call instead of the road will cause more accidents around you.
