Question about production options/combinations, etc.

Hello all,

First post here! I really enjoy this site. I have lurked this forum for a while now and have really enjoyed reading the information here.

I do have a few questions about the 67-72 trucks. So, here it goes.

Where is the best place to find information about production numbers, engine/transmission/axle ratio combinations and option packages?

For example, one thing I've wondered is, how common is it for a Cheyenne 4x4 to come with a 4spd instead of the Turbo Hydramatic? Was the Cheyenne or Cheyenne Super available in 30 series trucks?

I just read a post the other day that said GM didn't put big blocks in 4x4s until 1981. I never knew that before.

What are some of the rarer options or combinations that where available? It seems like the AM/FM radio option was rare.

Try the FAQ for some of the answers....on production numbers there was a spreadsheet you can download....made some time ago and I think there is this info somewhere else...but I can't remember (it's late )

you'll never find production numbers showing how many 4 speeds in 4X4 trucks (to use your example) Numbers just weren't kept.
You can find a rough % of 4 speeds installe, but the numbers are misleading.Example, it'll say 20% got 4 speeds. (just pulling a number out of my rear) Now this would mean 20% of trucks that could get a 4 speed, so this would include all trucks except for one tons since that was the base model tranny in a one ton. So 20% of short fleet, short step, short cab & chassis, then all that again in 4X4... long fleet, long step, long cab & chassis, then all again in 4x4... blazers, panels, burbs, it goes on and on.
The option packages (cheyenne CST, custom delux) was avalible on all model pickups (with a few exceptions) to include one tons, both with and without a bed.

Was a 327cid found in 67-72 trucks and were they available in 10, 20 and 30 series?

327's were in the '67-68 bodies. It was replaced with the 350, in '69. By the same token, the 283 was replaced by the 307 in '68.

and it came in 10/20/30 trucks, as well as c/k/p trucks
