Springs and Wheels
Needed some advice on lowering springs on the cheap and wheel size. Do most people use 16's or 17's??
Thanks |

Re: Springs and Wheels
The best way is to find a board member or an eBay seller that is switching to bags and want to get rid of the lowered springs for cheap. Cutting them is not the best but really cheap, ride kind of sucks.
Wheels, there is no standard on wheels it is all personal preference. 15's have a tendency to rub the LCA. I am running 18's but some guys run up to 22's. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Springs and Wheels
A good quality shock is one of the most important pieces of equipment you can put on the truck. In a panic swerve or stop the difference is dramatically evident, and could be the difference between a close call and an accident. I run Bilsteins on my truck because of the design and the lifetime guaranty. Not sure about the 60-66 trucks but the shock location on the LCA of the 67-72 years is about mid way out so the shock is having to work pretty hard to dampen the recoil from the spring on a big heavy truck. My 4/6 drop rides extremely well and handles just as good, which is difficult to achieve.

Re: Springs and Wheels
I agree, cutting off the existing coil is the cheapest, but will result in increased spring rate and harsher ride.
Which shock depends on how much you lower. Beyond a few inches can result in the stock shocks having the wrong dimensions/travel. CPP has shocks for lowered trucks, and their cheap. Some folks say they ride harsh though.
