Best way to get my truck cross country?

I have a 72 c10. It's not a show truck by any means, but it is well taken care of and is a driver... I'm thinking of moving out to Vegas, about 3000 miles away. What is the most affordable way to get the truck out west? I'm not keen on driving it that far...

I've used this company for both trucks I've bought.
For my 03 GMC from Colorado to Conn. was $1000.
For my 69 C20 from Cali to Conn. was $1250.

Re: Best way to get my truck cross country?

Load everything into it and buy a trailer if necessary, then drive it. It is a truck after all.

I would try your regional section for a driver going to Vegas soon, buy
a used/cheap/lockable canopy, insure to the hilt and pay gas.

But that's just me...

I know your not keen but just drive it. Give it a good going over before you head out...plan your route...hotels...auto supply stores...bring your tools and other items you may need (duct tape, wire, water...) and enjoy the journey. Just a thought. Best of luck, Roger

Drive it, take your time. Find out what there is to see along the way.

You will remember that trip forever.

Been there, done that.

Re: Best way to get my truck cross country?

I just shipped the 70 I bought from California to Florida. I think it was in the 2500 mile range. It was just over $900 on a open carrier. I used DAS (dependable auto shippers) and had great luck. Closed in would have been hundreds more. But like you, mine is a driver and not a show truck so it was ok with me. Took about 2 weeks.

Driving is a good idea if you are 100% sure that everything mechanical on your truck will hold up. If you are in doubt at all, I wouldnt do it. Unless you are very prepared to do a repair on the road. Maybe in the middle of nowhere.

Re: Best way to get my truck cross country?

If you did deside to drive, make sure you have road side assistance on your insurance policy! That way you know if you do have a break down or run out of gas or whatever, they will come get you and the truck and carry it to a shop for free. I have mine with my cell phone company and it is $3.00 a month. Good luck with whatever you deside to do.

Re: Best way to get my truck cross country?

I used all auto shippers and had good luck. IT was a non running driver and still shipped for $1300 coast to coast.

Re: Best way to get my truck cross country?

If you do tow it and you use one of those trailers that only the front wheels sit on, pull the drive shaft so the transmission isn't isnt spinning all the way there. Go slow give your self plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front of you for breaking, other people will stop on a dime and they expect you to be able to do the same. It would be cool to drive it but if youre not comfortable with that take your tools and your time. Enjoy.
