No Spark?
I have a H.E.I. and lost spark. So I replaced the Ign. module and coil and still no spark. The Dist. is an Accell and isnt that old so I wouldnt think it would be the pick-up. It has power to the coil to when you turn the key on. Any ideas? thanks Justin

seems like there isn't much more that it could be. It's always possible that you got a bad module or coil. They are supposedly all tested before being sent to the stores, but I've got bad modules before right out of the box. You could have them tested, and if they're fine, then I'd have to say the pickup coil unless you have a wiring problem somewhere.

I had the same problem with mine not too long ago.
Did a total tune up, plugs, wires, cap, everything including the module. Tried to start it and no spark. The module was a Borg Warner I think. I took it back and had it tested and sure enough it was bad. Swapped it for an AC Delco and it started right up.

How often are you guys replacing your module in your HEI Dist? It seems like mine goes out every six months or so. And I've even tried different brands, and even gone to GM for a new one, but they keep going out.

why not msd
why dont you guys run MSD its great they make one for your stock ing. or you can buy there box to they may even make a coil
for stock ing, check out summits web site or jegs. just a though. MARK....if you buy the 6al them you've got a rev.limiter.... |

I also had problems with stock modules and replacements. They would go out at random and I hated it. I got a new distr. (Proform $150) and it did ok for awhile, then that module went out. I bought the msd module and the msd module off another member. No problems so far and it does seem like it idles smoother, but really no change in performance from what I can tell. My big thing is that I hope it doesnt just up and stop like the other modules.

I haven't had my truck a year, and I have already replace two. That is due to getting a bad one from the parts store the first time though.
If it keeps up, I will consider going with something like the MSD.

Just a word on Eddie's module. It is made for 4 pin module distributor's. If you still have an ESC distributor, it's 5 pin, and the MSD module won't work. They don't make a module for a 5 pin ESC distributor.

I have heard of so many module problems, but I guess I'm in the minority. I've had my truck for over a year and have had no problem with the module (crossing my fingers!).

Mikes right. The ESC is a 5 pin. When I changed to the proform it was a 4 pin. I did notice that once I got away from the esc system, I had way less problems with the module. Sotck type module would last me about 1 to 1-1/2 years then just stop.
