Re: 700R4 Advice
The TH400 is not an overdrive, with the aftermarket upgrades the 700 is ok. I like my 4l60e's alot better. I know their supposed to be about the same trans but the electric shift is better IMO.

Re: 700R4 Advice
I went with the 700r4 behind my 355 simply to keep the electronics out of it for the most part. The one that came behind my 4.3 was a "K" case and so I opted to rebuild it myself. Never done one before and I bought the rebuild video...
Monkey see, monkey do. And I used the kit from Monster transmissions... $500 shipped. I haven't run it up yet, but suspect it will work just fine and the kit had a vast majority of the upgrades I was looking for. Just my 2 cents, Ted.

Re: 700R4 Advice
Go with a good local guy incase you run into troubles. Long distance repairs are not fun.

Re: 700R4 Advice
My father went with bowtieoverdrive for a 64 Chevy project. He was quite happy with the whole package and how comprehensive it was. I used their cable kit and was thrilled with it.
