coil spring and leaf spring

It seems to be that when i see these trucks where ever i go, either junkyard or just on the road, they seem to be coiled in back. Was leaf an option and they came coiled?

Yes but GMC came with leafs and coils were the option from what I have heard.

Re: coil spring and leaf spring

coils were standard on all C/10 and C/20 trucks with the exception of C/20 Longhorn trucks.
On the GMC side, Coils were standard on some models and some years in bot the C/1500 and C/2500, but leafs were standard on other models in other years.
GMC kinda did there own thing and made things confusing in some areas.
