Couple rearend swap questions/brakes etc
I have a 72 12-bolt 3.08 rear to swap into my 66 short fleet.
I know the 72 is 3/4" wider on each side, which is fine. I dont have any backing plates or brakes on the 72 rear. Will the backing plates and brakes work from the 66 rear? Also, I ordered a bolt-in cnotch from cpp, and their super trac-bar. I was going to order the 1 1/2 or 2" drop block/ubolt kit, but 70 bucks plus shp seems extreme. I can make steel blocks for zero, and just need Ubolts. So anyone know where to buy reasonable Ubolts, or can anyone give me measurements so I can have them made local?? Thanks fella's

Ubolts -I've seen this solved here on this board, so search the archives.
I would also try a tractor supply, big truck shop, or maybe online like stengelbros or fastenal or McMaster-Carr Posted via Mobile Device

Your brake backing plates will work just fine. I believe truck 12 bolt backing plates will fit from any year. I just completed the swap to the HD 11 5/32 X 2-3/4 brakes by swapping backing plates from a late 70's K-10.

Re: Couple rearend swap questions/brakes etc
Thanks guys.
I know the axle housing is 3", but anyone know how long I should make them to use a 2" block? 11" ? Also, since my truck is buried and I cant get to it, and Im having a brain fart, what size thread are the ubolts for trailing arm rearends? So I can tell the shop Im having make them. I know theyre alot more stout than a typical ubolt.
