Re: Need a boost
I think we all go through "lulls" where not much gets done, I would say that spring/summer should be a motivator... I have also found that picking a certain date or show that you want to attend is a great motivator. I got a lot of work done on my truck when I had a show to attend that I had already paid for. Also, just think of how great the truck would be to drive down the street! Work at your own pace and just enjoy any progress you make. Overall, I think its just about the time spent wrenching!

Re: Need a boost
Looks like junk to me... I'll come by in a few days to haul it off and get it out of your way. Don't worry, I'm just nice like that and you won't have to worry about all the good times and fun you would of had in it.

Re: Need a boost
pack the fridge full of beer fire up the grill and invite your car/truck buddies over. Good food, good friends , good times, and you might actually get something done on your truck. Sonds like you have some welding and painting to do ssounds like a good time to show a friend how to do these things.

Re: Need a boost
You should send the whole thing to me! that way its not a problem for you any more. you are doing a great job on the truck & sometimes we need to stand back and remember why we do the things we do and also how lucky we are to be able to do them. I covered mine for 6 months was at a point where I needed a break. came back uncovered it and it was on. (don't really know why I stopped working on it in the first place) have fun , and she will be there when you are ready cheers, Pat

Re: Need a boost
Looks like an awesome project. I'd set a date or a show you want to attend and use that to motivate you. I've learned I procrastinate... so I set deadlines. I don't always meet them but I ALWAYS get a lot done right before the deadline

Re: Need a boost
Yeah, mine has been sitting through pretty much the whole winter. I've only managed to rip stuff apart and create work. I'm planning on kicking ass when I break for school in may. I just ordered a few things from cpp and QAR(*****************), they should be here by May, SHOULD lol!!! I also just ordered a miller 211 that will be here Tuesday, I can't wait!

Re: Need a boost
Lulls, huh? Maybe the boost you need is to have my youngest son as your project manager. He's been driving me like a there's no tomorrow. It's all good, though.

Re: Need a boost
Setting a deadline is a good idea. I talked to a guy who restored a huge (10 foot tall rear wheels) steam tractor that was in very rough condition. He said the only way he could accomplish the restoration was by only working & focusing on one item at a time. If he looked at the whole mess he just felt overwhelmed. It made a lot of sense to me & it does work- I've tried it!

Re: Need a boost
We all have been there. Turn off the computor , go set a small goal , try not opening the beer until you have reached your small goal (rewards!!) Hey , most men are just like our dogs , we'll do almost anything to get a treat.

Re: Need a boost
I don't get as much done in the winter but the spring and summer get me going. One thing I always do is if I get mad or frustrated while I'm working on it I stop for that day and come back later this keeps the project fun instead of turning into work. The initial cleaning and taking care of the small parts kills me but once i get through that it's a lot better. On my current project I just could't wait to hear it run and then after I heard it run I just couldn't wait to drive it and now I can't wait till I get it licensed and I can drive it legally down the road (hopefully that will happen next week). Just pick a day and start working on it.

Re: Need a boost
I'm not sure what your situation is but my project is in my garage so I don't have to "Go" anywhere to work on it. There are 2 ways I stay motivated. The first is I do something on my truck every day (I live in So. California so it is never too cold to work) even if it is something small like clean and paint 1 bracket. The other way I stay motivated is I think of my friend's project. I have known this guy for over 40 years (yes I'm kinda old) and for at least 25 of those years he has been working on a '57 Cameo pick up...that will not be me, I set a goal of 6 months start to finish. I am giong to drive MY truck again soon. So, if it is motivation you need just think of my friend's project, oh yeah, and they don't put luggage racks on a hearse.

Re: Need a boost
how could you not be motivated? you have a garage, concrete floors and i work on mine in the cold, heat, mud etc. in my back yard! I just got some gravel under it to help last week wow what i could do if i had the stuff you got! ..................................... yea, i have a dry erase board that i write small project i want to get done, and parts to order on it in the computer room here and it thrills me to erase another thing off. It has really helped me get stuff done and motivated me to work.
