Are These Factory or Add On???

I bought a rolling chassis from a 1967 C20 a while back and seen it had these hooks on the front most crossmember. The other day I was tearing the chassis apart and wanted to take off these hooks because I thought they would be good for something. Anyway when I was taking them off I noticed how the holes they are in looked to be drilled nice and exactly the same place on both sides. So now I am asking myself could these be original or add on option. I looked at another 67 frame I have and it has the same holes. Were the holes just there and someone installed these hooks or were they supposed to be there. Thanks for any advise. I tried to take pictures but if you want more just ask.

The holes might have been original but the hooks were not.

I have seen those used as lifting eyes on heavy equipment, but have never seen them as OEM truck parts.

Re: Are These Factory or Add On???

Thanks everybody. I really did not think they were but when I seen the holes were there I got questioning that. Anybody happen to know why the holes are actually there?? Just curious. Thanks again and have a great week. Todd

They look like anchors used for utility pole guy wires.

Thanks for the information. Do you have any ideas what the holes are for in the front crossmember. Maybe used during assy. at the plant. No big deal just curious. Thanks again, Todd
