cab mounts?
does anyone have a picture of how the cab should mount to the frame? I just got my bed put together and the bed sits up about an inch higher then the cab if you follow the body lines the cab is lower then the bed. it's kinda hard to see in this picture but here is what I mean

Re: cab mounts?
do you have new cab mounts? if not they might give you the inch youre after. otherwise, you'll have to shim up the 4 cab mounts and the 2 core support mounts to compensate for the difference.

Re: cab mounts?
I'm going to shim the cab and core support up since the cab is on brand new mounts. I measured the difference last night and it's 3/4 inch not 1 inch so that's not as bad but oh well.

Re: cab mounts?
I just encountered the same problem with my lwb 72. I rebuilt all four cab supports and installed new cab mount cushions and bolts. When I put the bed back on with the new bed bolts and 1/4" rubber bed cushions, I noticed that the cab rear was 1/2"-3/4" lower than the bed. I took one of the old rear cab mount cushions and cut it in half and installed them on top of the new mounts to raise the rear of the cab to match the bed. I installed new core supports that came with the cab mount kit but I didnt change anything there, only the two rear mounts on the cab to achieve cab to bed alignment. Hope this helps.

Re: cab mounts?
Since you shortend the frame, didn't you have to relocate your rear cab mounts?
If so, do you think it's possible you went too low w/ them? Just a thought... I plan on shortening my lwb this summer and am interested in what hurdles I might encounter. Not to change to topic, but have you or what do you plan on doing w/ the drive shaft (shorten and run two, or single)? |
