Hub caps with Rally wheels???
Silly question... Does anyone know if there are any factory hubcaps, not full wheel covers, we can run on factory 6 lug Rally wheels. Like the baby moon look but factory hub caps have a little more style. Is anyone running baby moons on their rallys?? Thanks

Me too! Well - kinda - I have some of the "dog dish" caps and I want to put them on my 73 ralleyes - I have center covers now but would like to put the 67-72 caps on them.

Check this thread and the linked thread in the second post. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=361322 I know the Gold/White 68 has 10" wide on the back and 7" wide on the front. The wheels are for sale in the parts forum right now... LockDoc

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
Truck rallies don't have the "bump" or spring clips for the baby moons. They do have 3 holes for the original center caps.I have yet to find a way to run a BM on them but would love to.I'll be subscribing to this one to see what you come up with.
BTW There are a lot of the center caps from later models that will work but most attach with the plastic lugnuts.

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
Yeah pretty sure Stockton Wheel in CA can build you the rims so the hubcaps will fit. I am putting some 68 COPO dog dish hubcaps on my 68 but wanted to use wider rims and they could accomodate that. Give em a call.

Subscribed... I'm running 6 lug truck rallys with the later model caps. Curious to see what ideas others have as well.

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
Yes, could do that but, this is our project "Cheap Bastard" and custom built wheels just aren't in the budget. have looked at some of the later model caps held on with threaded lugs,, just not sure on them. Thanks for the ideas.

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
Could go w caps from the 50's-60's that were held on with little metal clips. Order those clips and spot weld them on your rims. Works in theory, not sure in reality bc I have never done that.

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
Here's the cap that some refer to as a COPO cap, but they were the stock hub cap for '68-69 Chevelles, El Caminos, Nova's and Camaro's. I have four of 'em and will probably sell them.

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
COPO= Central Office Production Order.
It just meant that the vehicle that is ordered was handled by the "central office". The COPO Camaro's were built to be campaigned. But, any vehicle that didn't fall under the standard method of ordering, including but not limited to cars, could be ordered under the COPO heading. If your company wanted a fleet of vehicles that were painted a color that was special for your business, it might be done as a COPO vehicle. But, one shouldn't assume that those hubcaps were only part of a COPO order. Chevy didn't add anything extra to the COPO Camaros, although there were some that did have some amenities. Saw a '69 COPO Rallye Sport Camaro (Hidden headlights) on Barrett-Jackson. Sure, it had the big block, etc., but it was a one-off COPO car.

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
In the old days (last month ) I'd have started welding, cutting, screwing... just to make a set work. I thought about two sided taping some on posting some pics and saying.. "What'da ya mean they won't work?"..... sigh... it's not the old days now and I'm ready for a nap..

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
chevy made many COPO trucks, thousands of them. and your copo hubcaps weren't a copo item, they were just base model hubcaps.

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
Dont think you are correct about the hub caps being standard issue. I have sets of standard issue truck hubcaps, they look nothing a like. I have never spotted a truck with these hubcaps ever! Plus every COPO Camaro I have seen have these on them. Also I am curious as to were you got info on COPO trucks and the thousands they produced. I have never heard of or saw a 1968 swb step side with a factory matching number 396 but I am 34 and was not alive then so if you can show me otherwise I am listening and ready to learn. I realize that the 396 became available in 68 but I am just saying I have never heard of one in a half ton step side. May have happened, if so get me some pics so I can get it correct.

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
Are those caps not as tall as the Derby caps, that Vetts and Camaros uses? I also looking for an alternative to standard Rally caps. I really like the flat caps that The El camino uses in 67, but they won't clear the Front hubs.

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
exactly. COPO ment it was not the normal options avalible for that vehicle.
A copo truck could have a 230 inline 6, or be painted some weired baby poop green, or be a 1/2 ton with a 5 speed tranny from a big truck, or could be super short wheel base... what ever was not part of the normal options avalible for said model number. Like I said, your COPO caps, are base model hubcaps for the cars you see them on. And, like I said, there were thousands of COPO trucks built in the 67 - 72 model year trucks. |

Re: Hub caps with Rally wheels???
I think you need to reread my original statement in which I said I was building a "BBC" (key word BBC) 68 P/U w COPO hubcaps. I totally understand what COPO means, but that is what these caps are refered to. You knew which cap I was talking about when you threw out that loaded question, so you have obviously heard them called this. I have been collecting parts and researching this build for 3 years know and still can not even find a pic of a 396 in a half ton P/U that was original to a 68 so I am getting most of my technical info from the 68 El' Camino. I also did a quick google search of 1968 COPO trucks and found zip except a threat from this website from 2008 in which you were involved.and much like now throwing out a lot of unrealted facts and never backing anything up but with your thoughts of what would have been. The guys in that forum also got tired of listing to your rambles as am I. Besideds this is my build and whats it to you I dont understand all your negativity are you the COPO police or something. I have had the truck since I was 14 so I know it well. I also have a 91' 454 SS and a 03' 6.0L SS, so really my intent was to build a 1968 SS the way GM would have done if that had buit one to add to my collection, MY COLLECTION!
Sorry to take this time up in this tread this guy's so back to the question at hand. When Delmo had his 64-65? pick up in that magazine that was pasted on the cover of this website with those sweet looking rims I sent him a meesage about them bc I liked them. They were 20 or 22'' aluminum rims with old hubcaps mounted to them. So I would PM Delmo, someone who has done this type of work and ask him how he would do it Quote:
