distributor questions for the pro's
i have a point distributor is there a magnetic pickup i can buy and put in one so i can run an external malrey? sp? box i know i could put a points eliminator in but i would like to run a box. any help would be appreciated

Not 100% but I think you'll need an HEI type distributor to run a standalone ignition box. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have done a bunch of Pertronix installs. The newest Pertronix do not require you to pull the dizzy. I did one last week in a 57 pontiac. Never pulled the dizzy, took less than an hour. Be sure that you replace the existing coil with an external resistor type coil when you do this. I have had a couple of occasions where the old coil failed shortly after the conversion

I have the "flyin magnet" style pertronix in my 383....slick as he11, & hooked to a big yellow supercoil(Accel). That 383 dont skip a beat, & I have seen her as tight as 7200. All of the pcs are running in an old cast iron dist, that came out of a '62 283, with 150000 miles on it! She does have a nice recurve, & a Crane vac advance tho. Do you really need the big dollar box? I havent seen the need for it crazyL
