My 1959 GMC Project
Hello Everyone I am new to this site and this is my first time posting so I am sorry if i am duplicating anyone else. My grandpa just gave me his 1959 GMC 100 long bed pickup and i have a lot of plans for restoring it but i also have a bunch of questions. I have acquired what i believe is a 1983 long bed Chevy frame that i plan on shortening to a short bed and throwing it under the 59. I also have a Chevy 350 4 bolt main that came out of a 69 Chevy. I first plan on rebuilding the 350 but I'm not sure which route to go. Im not looking for anything crazy, just something that I can drive around town or set you back in your seat and lay some rubber every now and then. I think that I am going to do the Vortec head swap but i was hoping you experts could fill me in on which heads I am looking for and everything i will need to do the swap as far as which intake, carb, cam, rockers, rods, pistons, etc. I have also considered making it a stroker.. what do you guys think??? my budget isn't huge so I'm trying to get the biggest bang for the buck. Any input on this would be awesome! |

Re: My 1959 GMC Project
I have been reading on here and thought the newer frames were to wide of wheel base, make your tires stick out 2 far unless you run a deep offset rim.I haven't really decided on what direction I'm gonna go with mine.I change my mind every dayI'm in Chugwater
