clutch linkage issues

hey guys i have a 72 c10 long bed with a column shift, now behind the gauge cluster you can see where the clutch pedal goes up above the steering column connects to a shaft that crosses over to the gas pedal area with some linkage where another rod goes through the fire wall and now this is where my problem is: the bar that goes through the firewall has some serious wear issues along with the metal that connects it to the swivel and i have no idea were to get replacements i ordered one from lmc and it is no where near the same ill post some pictures of the parts in question

Welcome to the 67-72 Chevy Truck Forums from West Michigan!

What a difference in replacement rod. It sure does not look like it will fit nor have the needed stiffness.

Good clutch rods come up on the parts board occasionally so you may want to watch for one. Otherwise joining the board is an option and you can post a WTB.

I'd say a junkyard would be your best bet on something like that. Avoid repro whenever possible for the obvious reason.

thanks for the feedback guys and i was going to convert to a hydraulic throw out bearing setup but im trying to get the money together to get to Nebraska i might just re use these parts if i dont find any and do the conversion up there

I stumbled on the answer one day while helping someone work on a '71 suburban. Shortly after I had installed a motor in my sb I found that it only had one threaded hole above the oil filter that was not directly across from the frame mounted pivot bracket. This is what I did.
Ground off the 2 rivets that hold the bracket to the frame. You should find another hole in the frame about 2 inches down the rail, towards the cab. I reinstalled the bracket using bolts. Put a ball stud in that single threaded hole above the oil filter and attached the clutch linkage. This is where that funky bar comes in.
Now I have another 350 sbc with only one hole for my other truck and thanks to this post I know where to get that funky bar.

I'm looking for the whole set up On the three on the tree I never every thing from the steering column for a 1972 1/2 ton

One last thing the guy cut a hole in the floor of this really nice 1972 1/2 and that was me I just rip out the 3 speed and put a th350 or 700R4 in and shorten the drive shaft

stsalvage you will be mad at me lol ive done the same thing i switched mine from 3 on tree to the floor but this is only going to be for the next year or 2 once i get a second car im pulling the column out and cleaning it out it was packed with grease by my dad when he owned it and now from the grease drying up you can bairly move the shifter, iva had it pull the shift linkage out while trying to shift before its so bad lol

On the rod, weld up the grooved area and grind it back to shape.

On the lever part, weld the hole up and drill a new one.

That should get you down the road another 40 years worth of use.
