Hi guys,

The steering wheel in the picture below was put on by the previous owner. The horn hasn't worked since then, I'm thinking he forgot to connect something. When I put power to the horns inside the engine bay, they work. So somethings wrong with the steering wheel part. Do I need to remove the steering wheel, in order to work on the horn?
If not, could you please tell me how to remove just the area I need to work on for the horn? Can I pop off that center piece and the horn contacts will be exposed? If I do need to remove the steering wheel, use a steering wheel puller correct? Are there screw/bolts I need to loosen/remove first before pulling the steering wheel?

Can't help you much with that wheel, sorry. But first, when you press the horn button, can you hear the horn relay click under the dash? If so, the steering wheel wiring is okay, and you're not getting -12vdc from the relay to the horns.

If the relay doesn't click, you'll probably need to remove at least the cap, if not the wheel. Grounding the wire (behind the wheel) will cause the horn relay to click.

Might be a good idea to remove the wire from your horns before pulling the wheel. That way when the relay operates, you'll just get a click instead of a blast from the horns.

I would check to see if you are getting a ground to the relay sent from the horn button before pulling the wheel

Hi guys,

When I put a wire from the battery to the horns, there are 2 horns, (is that standard?) I can make both horns turn on. So the wires to the horn in the engine bay are working, just from the steering wheel to the horn there seems to be a problem.

Yes, two horns are standard.

Grounding a wire at the steering wheel operates the horn relay. The horn relay then sends battery to the horns.

Maybe it's as simple as a blown fuse for the horn relay.

Hmmm, a blown fuse. Hadn't thought of that. Would it be one of the fuses in the cab? If so, which one?

Chances are the person who installed the new wheel didn't understand how to make the horn button work and so its not hooked up.

Take off the inner part and post a pic...

The fuse panel doesn't seem to have a fuse for the horn: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=400597

Update: I took off the inner part of the wheel and exposed the nut. After I removed the nut in the middle, I was moving the steering wheel and the horn went off for a second. Also, when I took of the horn, it fell out and that's what you see in picture number 1. It wasn't even attached at all! So I'm thinking that's my problem? I removed the nut holding the steering wheel, but couldn't take the wheel off completely, this is where the steering wheel puller comes in correct? In picture number 4, what is the little nut thing with the red "collar" to the left of the steering wheel nut? Is that where the wires attach?

can't help you on the first pic, that is not going to work at all, looks like you need to check out who made that wheel, but you can test the horn by grounding that springy pin thing to the center shaft, should blow, it's called horn contact.

Ok, so that test worked. When I grounded the "springy pin thing" on the left to the center shaft, the horn blows. So, now what?!

then get rid of it bud i got one from a cavalier i totaly dig on mine

This might shed some light to what you may have, now all you got to do is contact the company and ask about new horn cap, with either chevy on it or plain,,,,also might pay attention to wheel asembly i think it isnt correct, imo,,,also might need the part that has the wire that connectes to the horn cap......don
