Classic but modern

hey, im wanting to do a few things to my 86 gmc and i woiuld like to get some ideas.
first off, i got a friend in detroit who can get me a 400 small block for a reasonable price. so id like to swap out the 305 for the bigger 400 so it has more power for offroad.
so, i also want to lift it. probably 6 inch suspension plus 3 inch lift, then slap somewhere between 38 and 44 in tires on it. any help with what kind of lift to go with and upgrades ill need to do would be awesome.
and the final question, is i want to upgrade the stereo system with subwoofers, high quality speakers, and amp, and keep the classic looking radio. should i drop the radio or get one with the auxillary input and then upgrade the sound? how should i go about upgrading the sound?
all and any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
