New bed cover

I took the truck out for Kool April Nites last week. Shake down passes. Didn't have time to do a bed cover.
There were 1000's of fans there. Everyone who came by the truck(a lot of them) were amazed at the suspension and chassis of the truck. Nothing special, but they all said they never get to see the suspension stuff. Ton's of questions and comments.
That got me thinking...why not make a clear bed cover?
Heres a few cell phone pics. 3/16 Lexan, zuse fastners, aluminum angle...and a full weekend.

It was like driving with the chute out. 9.50's at 134mph shake down.

Haven't taken it out...just finished it today. It should pick up a ton of MPH. On the 9.51 pass I had a 1.25 60 foot and a 5.94 660' at 119.6 MPH and only 134MPH at 1320.

Re: New bed cover

I am afraid that you are going to find that the air coming from the bottom gets caught
under the bed cover, and causes drag. another piece of lexan to form a floor would help, and still be light-weight. Paul Baxter

I had a bed cover made of aluminum on it last year...seem to work for aero. The front roll pan is 1" off of the ground at speed.

Cool, sounds like you are keeping a lot of the air from getting under the truck to start with. The front of my truck will be 3" static. don't know how it will
be at speed. Hope to find out soon. Good luck, and let us know more times when you get back to the track. Paul Baxter
