Should I do the letters white or black?
This is a 67 3/4 ton 4x4, we call Henrietta. Getting an Ace Hardware red rattle-can paint job. Thinking I'll hand letter the "Chevrolet" on the tailgate. I think white would look great. Rear bumper is black. Grill trim and headlight buckets will be white. My dad thinks black for the letters. Ya'll chime in. show pics, or photoshop, so I can buy the last few cans of rattle-can paint.

Re: Should I do the letters white or black?
My 9 yr old girl that helped with the sanding and painting wants to do either pink or glitter. I'm gonna say no. Told her to get her own truck. I can just see pulling up to the feed store with glitter letters to buy buy feed. Not gonna happen. Would probably only run on 4 cylanders. I'm leaning to white letters or leave it red.

Re: Should I do the letters white or black?
This here is when you park way in the back lot, tell your daughter to go get the feed and put it in the truck. If she hoolers, tell her, "You wanted to pick the colors on the truck!",

Re: Should I do the letters white or black?
White for good contrast.
If you're going to do black I'd do a white outline around it.

Re: Should I do the letters white or black?
I would say white also. They do sell tailgate letter decals in white or black. They are pretty cheap and might be easier than masking them off or painting them by hand, just a thought. Joseph

Re: Should I do the letters white or black?
Who sells these decals? I think that's the way I'll go. And I'm leaning towards black still. Interesting this has had more replies than my build thread in the 4x4 section.

Re: Should I do the letters white or black?
Headache rack and tool box will be black. Rear bumper is black. Roll on bedliner will be black. Hmmmm.....ya'll have me leaning black now. Who has the decals? That might just work. I like the red white and blue, but that's too much work. I do have a Texas Edition emblem I'm going to put on somewhere. Hey primer, gun rack, and spit-cup, that's a Texas edition.

Re: Should I do the letters white or black?
I'll be using black but that's because I'll have black wheels. Whatever works with your trucks paint scheme the best is what I'd choose. I'm not partial to either..

Re: Should I do the letters white or black?
On the red, white would be my first choice...
But then again, red/black color combos can look pretty trick as well if done right... Perhaps matte black letters with a medium red outline to go between the two to make it pop...? |
