trucks heart transplant
i let my dad borrow my 83 pickup for a long road trip with her long overdue for a oil changeand my crank timing a lil messed up from when my balencer separated in two. on my way to school i was missfiring onthree cylinders pouring black and blue smoke truck stalling out easily rpms cut in half from average and to keep running at a few hundred rpms i had to floor it so chelsea is loosing her 305 so it canbe rebuilt and gainga performans 400 with a couplehundred miles(fresh rebuild) i wont be there for the swap but will post pics afterwards also anyone with a 400 lemme know what im infor (i already know single digit gas milage)

just did that swap. more of a performance swap. in stock form. your going to be looking at torque monster. your going to like the 400's

i know 400s are powerful stock but the guy that built this motor is notorious for powerhouse builds blus the edelbrock intake and carb and hooker headers so im perty excited

Big block radiator, the one for the puny little 305 won't cool the 400.

wrong! mine cools my healthy 400sbc with stock clutch fan and shroud. no heating problem want so ever. even on 95+ florida days in traffic

Same for me, still running the orginal radiator, infact i am going to put a hotter thermostat in it.

i got 3 core radiator in shed imma swap in to it also just got done gettin some parts brand new accel plugs an wires new flywheel 5 qts. mobil 1 oil

I couldn't tell you my speedo is about 20 mph off. Mpg isn't realy a problem for me. I got a daily driver this is just a toy. But Id say 7-8 halling ass

You should do about the same mpg as a 305/350 with the same mods

well were puttin stock cooling off 305 onto 400 ill have pics tomorrow today we unhooke everything and hooked 305 to cherry picker so tomoorow we put parts on 400 and drop her in and hook up new stereo and monday she gets to assert dominance lol

ok im a liar guys couldnt get before pics but i can get afters also motor still aintfinished because we have to take off tranny and replace torque converter cuz the one thats on there is for big shaft an my trans is small shaft but erything else is great new plugs wires, exhaust manifolds, water pump, gaskets, fluids, filters, etc. but more bad itll be couple more weeks and sorry bout takin so long to repost but computer was havin seizures
