Re: HELP! driveline with bags!

I know on my lwb I flipped the carrier bearing mount to make the angle better. Not sure it would help on a swb or not....

...bump for you....

yep, just drilled out the rivets and flipped it from mounting at the top to mounting at the bottom....making sure to center it when re-installing...

Re: HELP! driveline with bags!

there shouldn't be any load on a carrier bearing except to hold the shaft up. If the rear shaft doesnt have a slip in it it can cause issues, no modern 2 piece driveline doesn't have a slip in the rear shaft. Are you putting so much angle on the 2nd shaft that the ujoint in the middle is binding and pushing the carrier bearing up? Ujoints are only designed to operate at a maximum of 3° they will physically function but will cause vibration issues.

Re: HELP! driveline with bags!

mine doesnt have a slip joint and its the original driveline, yes it is pushing on it and braking the mount.

The slip joint on an original driveline is the yoke in the trans, that is if you have a carrier bearing with bolts in line front to back, that is why the rubber surrounding the carrier bearing is so soft (so the shaft can move in and out of the trans).
Don't guess at it, buy a protractor (about 10 bucks at Home Depot or Lowe's) and check the angles. Once you know what the angles are you will be able to figure out what you have to to fix it correctly the first time. Nothing worse than spitting a driveline out in the street when you are all dressed up in your going out to dinner clothes. There is real good information at the Spicer /Dana website for setting multi-shaft driveline angles. I would have include the link but I am stupid like that.
