New Track Time for my 69' C10 with LQ9 6.0L LSx Swap
Well I went out to the track yesterday and got some first new times for the new motor built in my 69.
The second run was the best at a 13.54 second 1/4 mile @ 100 mph. The tune is pretty rich so I think its got a bit more in it as well as headers and air intake upgrades. In truck camera: Outside camera: The engine is a LQ9 bottom end with L92 Heads, and an LS3 intake with 90mm TB. It also has a comp cam. I was pretty happy with the time but I think its still got more in it.

Re: New Track Time for my 69' C10 with LQ9 6.0L LSx Swap
hell yea, that nice!!
Truck sounds really good too!! It def has 12's in it, what tire are your running? it has significant wheel spin so if you can get your 60' down the big number will FALL. I figure the truck should be making at least 415-430 rw, through a 60e? have you had it dyno'd? I know it should make enough power to go 12's...good luck, looks like a fun project!! |

nice ride! I am in the process of building a c10 right now, doing a budget turbo 5.3 setup.... your times even with the wheel spin give me hope of making my goals! Yours has so much more in it!
What are you running for suspension? You dont happen to know my buddy Kyle Q. with a black trans am do you? He lives there in Anchorage also... |

I love the sound! I get a kick out of the ashtray opening under acceleration

Sounds like you can make up alot of time in your trans tune too, is torque management still enabled? Sounds like it is but hard to tell, and did it go into overdrive before the traps or did you let off the throttle?

What gears are you running? It looks like there is quite a bit of potential for improvement.
I am hoping to run high 13s in mine when I get it to the track on some slicks. We'll see though. |

12 Bolt Posi 3.73 Gears is what it is running for the rear end. I ran the truck on a base tune my tuner sent me to get it up and running so I am sure with this new one it will run even better!

Put a cover on your box, or bed, whatever you want to call it. That thing is like a parachute on it's side as far as drag is concerned. I'd be intrested to see back to back times with that thing coverd and then uncoverd. I'm thinkin the difference would be signifigant. Opening or removing the tailgate would be easy and free also.

Remember the tailgate nets that improved milage? Didn't work. However, opening the tailgate will move a bit of weight farther back and help with traction. Not much on these trucks, but some of the el caminos that had big heavy tailgates will see a big improvement on the track. Great looking truck! Great engine setup, was thinking about the same for my camaro.

Off topic, but I have ran at that track when I was stationed at ft Richardson a few years ago. Track prep wasn't the greatest, but it sure is in a pretty area.
