Slow electric windows.

Asking for what works and what you have done about slow electric windows.
My Electric windows on my Suburban are very slow. They all work sometimes with a little help. I keep thinking that I can just open up the door panels and lube them. But have not yet.
Does anyone have experience with this problem. What has worked for you on your Suburban?
Any Help would be appreciated
Thanks

Re: Slow electric windows.

the same thing happens on pickups... you do need to lube them and that should help exponentially

I seen somewhere someone had taken the motor assembly out and cleaned up the 20 some years of oil and dirt that was stuck to them, lubed them and stuck em back in and they worked like new...

Re: Slow electric windows.

I had the same problem on my 81 ccsb and my friend suggested installing bosch style relays to the motors on all 4 of them. Now they work like they are brand new!!! The relays are cheap and a simple install.

Got a schematic of the wiring of the relays and where you mounted them?

Re: Slow electric windows.

cleaning and lube. can you be more specific where they all hang up?
I would first think the rollers need a spray on them. Where else?
Cleaning? what/where/how.
This may seem like a stupid question. But I like to get to the specifics where the problem usually is and what is happening to cause it.
If I put a relay on the motors what does that do? If the motor works harder does that cause more stress on the rollers etc?
Anyone have any specifics guys?
Any and all help is appreciated
Thanks

Re: Slow electric windows.

I just had to do the fronts on my 91. cleaned everything up replaced the upper window door felt, beltline moulding and division bar channel and they work like normal. A 91 is not that old to me but the rubber is 20 years old

Re: Slow electric windows.

silicone spray lubricant

I hope you NEVER plan on painting your truck because silicone is a B***H around paintjobs. I NEVER use silicone spray around cars or armorall (armorall is very destructive to vinyl)

I'm working on the same problem right now with my windows. I noticed my seals around the window are binding, rollers are worn out, and I have a new motor coming. Will keep you posted.
