Question Dealer Imprint Plate???

I never had the build sheet that is usually under the bench seat but my truck did come with the Original Dealership Imprint Plate. I was just wondering how many of the owner's in this forum have this Imprint Plate. Mine has the paperwork with the dealership that it was first sold at as well.

Got em....I don't think it's super rare, but it gives you a nice feeling that it was likely taken good care of over the years.

Re: Dealer Imprint Plate???

Difficult to say how many are still around. The dealers were supposed to take them when the warranty was up. I lucked out, all four of our trucks still have them.

Re: Dealer Imprint Plate???

I agree that it is not rare. I think when selling a truck that the history of it is very important. Paperwork and receipts and anything that tells the story where the truck started to where it's at now is what holds it's value. You can't really run a vin check on vehicles this old to get the history so it is all about what you have (pictures/receipts/stuff to show authenticity of vehicle. I think it is kind of like a birth certificate for a truck when you have that little piece of history to tell the story of it. Thanks for the responses. [/COLOR]

Re: Dealer Imprint Plate???

The good thing about a protect-o-plate (imprint plate) is that it is the closest way to tell if your truck has the original engine. These trucks do not have a vin # on the engines like alot of cars do, but they do have a suffix code like TLM and a engine build date. This code and exact date are also on the protectoplate.

My 67 is from Canada and this is what my protect-o-plate looks like. More like a plastic bank card than a metal imprinted plate.

Re: Dealer Imprint Plate???

mine also still has protecto plate and manuals, not in great shape. However... my Firebird came with original window sticker, both build sheets, protecto plate (also plastic card) original warrenty booklet signed by the owner of the dealership.

Still have the protecto plate, build sheet, dealer invoice, window sticker, original pink slip, all registrations, even dealership license plate frames.

Re: Dealer Imprint Plate???

my first longorn had most of the papers, including window sticker, protecto plate, recall for motor mounts, and a few other cool pieces. My second truck... I was lucky to have the correct title. My one ton I have now, all it came with was the build sheet. In my burb, it has the books, and registration for all owners, but no other papers.

Huh, that dealership was just about 15 miles from where I grew up.

As for me, none of the paper work survived. It was probably used by me to start a camp fire with when I was little...
