I didnt need another truck!!!!!

I've seen this truck around the corner from me for several years. It never moved and had alot of debri on the road under it, but it alwas had current tags. So last fall I put a note on it saying I was interested, mostly out of pity for the truck. Well last week I get a call, his tags and insurance expire at the end of the month. I met with him, but I don't have the money I had six months ago so I offered him four hundered for it. He said no, but called back 3 days later and said yes. So now I had to keep my word and buy it.
Its a 72 custom camper 350/3 spd(column) and it needs alot of work. I can't even work on it now because i'm in the middle of repainting my house.
I will try to start it in a few weeks.

Re: I didnt need another truck!!!!!

That's a nice looking truck for $400 . Do a little work on it in your spare time & re-sell it if you don't need it . I'm sure someone out there would love to have it just like it is .

From what I see, if it drove to where you parked it AND if I had one of them "understanding" other halves, I'd offer ya $500 to help you gid rid of the guilt you're feeling for putting the house painting over the truck!

Re: I didnt need another truck!!!!!

I not sure if it runs yet. It last ran 2 years ago.
He said the engine was just rebuilt, but it has alot of grease on it.
I'm gonna let the rings soak in PB for a couple days before I try and start it.
He's also throughing in 2 rust free doors when he gets them out of storage.
It's alot rustier then it looks in pics.

Re: I didnt need another truck!!!!!

My local salvage yard would probably give that much for scrap weight. I paid $600 for a much worse 3/4 ton 2wd that needs every piece of sheet metal possible. GOOD DEAL!

Yep that looks pretty good for 400. Give it a rock with it in gear...see if things are freed up. I look forward to the build thread! How does the gate look

Re: I didnt need another truck!!!!!

He's just using the truck as an excuse to not paint the house (he probably already has the paint hidden from his wife). The truth is,he's just trying to get up the nerve to tackle that high gable.

Re: I didnt need another truck!!!!!

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll try to get it started this weekend.
Cylinders are soaking in PB now.

Special K - The sidings already painted. but I have alot of trim left to paint.
The low stuff is getting painted fast, but the high stuff hasn't been touched.
I have a 32' extention ladder here waiting for you. If you stand on the top rung you can reach with a paint pole.
