68 C-10 3 on-the-tree shifter rods
Hi,
New to the site, but like it already! I found a 68 C-10 LWB with 56K original miles on it on of all places, Craigslist (almost a barn find). The truck is 98% original: paint, interior, suspension, 307 engine, carb, dist, trans, diff, alternator and even the A.I.R set up is OEM and intact. The truck is currently undergoing a frame-off restoration. As often times happens, someone removed the original shifter arms and replaced it with an aftermarket floor shifter, and I am having trouble finding the original V-8 shift arms that run from the column to the Saginaw transmission (3-speed). I have the shifter rods from a '68 I-6, but am being told they will not fit my V-8. -Can anyone confirm this??? Does anyone out there happen to have the Saginaw shift arms and the V-8 shifter rods for the good 'ole 3-on-the-tree they would like to sell?? -Thanks in advance. -Dave68 ![]() |

I could probably snag some on a junkyard run if you cant find them on the board-
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...daysprune=&f=8 Best $ spent is becomming a member $15 for 6 months or $25 for a year. You can post WTB adds and sell extra parts. I would guess the I6 and V8 shifter arms are the same, but not for sure on that. Welcome!

Re: 68 C-10 3 on-the-tree shifter rods
Since the manual tranny x-members are different for a V8 and L6, the shifter rods are the same. The reason for different x-members is in order to put the 3-spd tranny in the same location under the truck. Since the tranny is in the same location, then you can use the same rods. Hope this helps.

Re: 68 C-10 3 on-the-tree shifter rods
Awesome! I never thought of it that way, but guess it makes sense because the driveshafts are all the same length: (LWB I-6,V-8; SWB I-6, V-8, etc.) -Now if only I could find the Saginaw shifter arms... Instead of going over a round protruding shaft secured with a clinch bolt (Muncie), they bolt directly to the transmission shift forks. Aside from making them, have you any idea where I could find these two arms?

I am pretty certain I have a set, will have to get into the parts pile to verify, but I will and let you know, thanks

Re: 68 C-10 3 on-the-tree shifter rods
I sent you a pm on some rods I have. I will also go to a local yard where I know there are a couple of trucks and see what is there.
