What wheels are these? (vol.1)
I bought these today,I believe (based on the pics i'll post) that they're late 50's(1959?) kelsey hayes production wheels.
(1)They measure just over 16"-same as my current 15" wheels,so i'll assume they're 15". (2) They're 6-5.5,so the pattern is good for my 62' c10. (3)They're riveted.Does that mean i'll need to run tubes? If so,Is running radials a problem with these? Thanks in advance... The stamp on the wheel i'm pointing to says 7/59 -Kelsey Canada Last edited by Blue Blood; 06-26-2011 at 07:54 PM. Reason: info |

Don't know what kind they are, but you'll have to run tubes. Shouldn't be an issue with radials. I used to run a set the same way. I'm not a fan of riveted wheels due to the possibility of weakness issues.

If they were 5 lug they would probably be from a Cadillac commercial chassis, but since they are 6 lug they are almost certainly truck wheels. They take the hupcaps that look similar to this:

Re: What wheels are these? (vol.1)
My understanding was GM went from the 'clip' style to the 3 'bump' style in 60'(maybe ?),then they went to 4 'bump' style...My issue is figuring out what exactly these are so that I can get correct-fitting center caps.
Hopefully someone here can set me straight on what these actually are.. Thanks guys. |

Re: What wheels are these? (vol.1)
Also, before you get to far into buying hubcaps and mounting tires on them, test fit them to make sure the angled back of the wheel clears your brake drums and calipers. Those wheels usually mated up to brake drums that had an angled leading edge, and a lot of people find out the hard way that they won't work with more modern brake components.
