Is this factory?
Pulled this trailer hitch off my truck. Is it factory or dealer installed? Is it just some old aftermarket piece? I'm gonna keep it just in case but I wanna know if anyone knows where it came from. Oh yeah, does anyone know if someone makes a piggy back trailer harness that fits between the bed harness and tailight harness? If no one makes one I'm sure I can make one from an old harness.

Re: Is this factory?
I've never heard of a factory installed hitch but, then again, there's a lot of things I don't know.
I would personally beef the bugger up before hanging any large load on it though. Perhaps better answers are on the way...here's a ttt . Last edited by ETsC10; 06-29-2011 at 01:57 AM. Reason: added my 2 cents |

Re: Is this factory?
during 67 72 you could get a hitch for your truck without having to get rid of the sport bumper and this was the solution if this one isn't original then it sure looks like one that could be installed i think you should ask member 72blckbuty he has a 69 that came with this if i remember correctly

Re: Is this factory?
Were either of these from the factory on a 67-72 ? - The one attached to the frame was from a 72 - The one on the ground was from a 70 and "supposedly" mounted to the factory holes in the frame. If these aren't factory hitches, does anyone have a picture of a "REAL" one ? THANKS !!!

Re: Is this factory?
No factory hitches. That first one looks like the GM accessory hitch. I don't believe a 2" receiver type.

Re: Is this factory?
I think LMC has a wiring kit that piggybacks off the stock wiring...

Re: Is this factory?
while we are talking hitches-does anyone know if a "late model" bolt on factory hitch will fit correctly on our 67-72 frame rails? Which years 73-2011???.............I have one installed by a welding shop back in the day that could probably tug the Titanic-just would like to clean up the whole area and go with sport bumper.

Re: Is this factory?
Steve, the lower pic is like the one I pulled off of my '69. Mine was an E Z Lift hitch receiver.
The truck/pic in the O.P. post reminds me of the one that I got for my '64 Bonneville. Mine was a Valley brand, with a 3500# towing capacity. I like that one, but I don't plan to do any towing, any more, with my '69. I traded my E Z Lift to Boog for one to fit my '96.
