Firewall has actually progressed from this point, just no new pics yet...

The channel at the top has been zipped up with a nice bevel to it.

XXL, does your bevel favor the front or the back. I was wanting to fill that channel as well, but would like to see how you did yours if possible....

I'm not sure I understand the question. Basically I took some sheetmetal and cut it to the approximate width of the gap (about 1.25" as I recall), and laid it at the front edge with a very small tilt up in the back (about .25"). Then I zipped it up and cleaned it up with a grinder. After that, it got a fairly thin wipe of body filler and in the back corner (the rearward part of the gap where the new sheetmetal met up with the mail firewall metal) I ran my finger through the body filler to give it a slight rounding. As of now it's still in fairly rough filler.

Bravo! Just checking. Have you got any more detail photos of the cowl? Mine is on the list to be filled, but I hadn't seriously considered welding it on. But... I use Rain X. Plus that's one less switch I've got to find a place for on my new there's-no-place-to-hide dash.

xxl, sorry for the unclear question. You answered what I was looking for. I was just curious as to which way you slopped the filler. Toward the cab or away from the cab. I know it is still rough, but if you could get a pic of that I would really appreciate it. I hope to work on my firewall this weekend.

I take it from some of the above pictures of the completely filled smooth firewalls that these are only show/extremely limited use trucks? I don't think I could do without AC here in the south on a driver. Good looking firewalls though - just not too practical.
