Ravelco anti theft device

http://nohotwire.com/

Anyone have/seen or heard of this?
It looks like a great idea, (as long as you don't loose the "Plug"), but what stopped me was the $486.00 to install it in my Truck!
In Theory it sounds good.
The Wires are all the same color and are surrounded by an Aluminum jacket.

I can get a LOJACK, (installed for about $850.00, that will Text my Cell Phone, shgouyld my Truck be stolen.

Re: Ravelco anti theft device

that device has been around since atleast 1985, the reason i remember is cause my dad had it on my moms 1985 cutlass supreme. needless to say they tried to steal the car one night and did not succeed. he then put it on his 97 Z71 and had no problems with it. however iam sure the thieves have figured by now how to outsmart it. iam thinking of the LoJack also cause i have it my daily driver and feel safe about it. but we all know if they really want it they will take it.

Re: Ravelco anti theft device

I've had people tell me that locks just keep the honest people....honest.

If squirrels could drive, I'm sure that there would be alot more stolen vehicles, no matter what the owners did to keep it from being stolen.

Re: Ravelco anti theft device

There are a number of discussions about the Ravelco on other forums. I remember finding one wherein a gentleman had one installed on his Ram and theives completely butchered his wiring harness, but never got his truck to start. I've seen a few installed on vehicles (I worked valet for a few years) and was intrigued by the idea. In all the research I've done though, it seems that it wouldn't be any more effective than adding a couple of well hidden kill switches.

Re: Ravelco anti theft device

seems like an overly complicated kill switch to me. A friend's mom had it on her Grand Am, and it seemed like it was sort of "chincy", if you will.

As for lojack, don't they have GPS tracking devices that would work the same way??
