Re: 60chevy 4.6 police interceptor chassis

sand blasted floor - welded some metal in --- brused on some rust killer then undercoated--

i had to modify the frame so the 24's no longer rub

Re: 60chevy 4.6 police interceptor chassis

the 4.6 isnt anything pretty to look at so the cut out hood was a after thought... originally i was gonna have the grille with 6 inches of hood and fenders mounted out front and have the motor all open. so that i could see all of the 24's
im going to take prob 4-5 inches of metal and trim the edges to make it look more finished---
it was too dang hot this last weekend didtn get alot done-- im welding up the holes in the firewall right now-- i guess ill just make new holes where i need em to run the 40lbs of wire that needs to go back in it for the computer and fuel injection etc

Re: 60chevy 4.6 police interceptor chassis

heres what has inspired this build the open wheel look , but since im 6'11" i need to fit and i want my wife and daughter to be able to ride too ..

im leaving it open wheels in the back too and will piece it in so that it forms to the frame--- right behind the cab i prob will build a step or something to make it look more finished.

Cool project, and another cool one you just sold. What was that coming off the engine into the body through the roof? Just an old sickle for looks?

Re: 60chevy 4.6 police interceptor chassis

You know how rat rodders use skulls etc ? For the shifter
i thought a scythe would be meaner and badder than the normall skull shift knob , so i used a scythe, was to heavy for the shifter so i used it for a e brake handle check out the tlamp i used old street sign i filled with 12v leds and had trhe brake light hooked to the hand , when i parked it i turned on the green guy... Ok i need to focus now on chevys lol this is a chevy forum

this rat rod was built ford tough with chevy stuff --if i use a ford motor in a chevy whats the slogan there? Built a chevy with some other stuff?

Re: 60chevy 4.6 police interceptor chassis

I used the chassis 97 crown vic , i used all the wiring clipped off all that was not needed and tucked it under the dash , its not channelled , i took out the coil springs, im bagging it --- so its sitting dropped postion --its pretty darn low considering i have 24's on it

Ok, that explains it. I am about to start a similar wiring nightmare. Its amazing how the caprice and crown vic chassis are similar..

Re: 60chevy 4.6 police interceptor chassis

It wasnt to bad -- i had the wire all laying loose cut the whole body off left just the cowl and dash --started it up one more time before i unplugged it all -- then plugged all back in and started looking at things like power windows ahhh chop that etc and kept cleaning it up shrink tubing the ends i cut, will be funny if i ever have a check engine light and have some one plug into the obdii connector and tell em to punch in a 97 vic police car lol

Re: 60chevy 4.6 police interceptor chassis

Yep, I thought the same thing with my project.... You might get stranger looks then I will... Especially from die hard Chevy and/or Ford fans that cringe at the site of a Ford engine in a Chevy...
