Lifting truck?

Any ideas on lifting a truck more than a jack and stands would do for easier access to treat and paint surface rust on the frame and underside?I don't have the use of a vehicle lift.Thanks.

Safest way is buying a bigger jack and bigger jack stands...

Could always drive it up on the wheel stands like most do for oil changes. That'd give you an extra foot or so higher and not have any jack stands in your way. Guess it depends on if your truck is low, stock or lifted right now to how much height you can get.

Stock height,higher the better as long as its safe.Anybody ever lifted one with a crane?

put the jack stands on blocks, I do that all the time.

I use a piece of 4x6 lumber on my jack pad under the front cross member [near the oil pan] as high as I can go and install the stands on the frame. Then I jack on the rear diff [without block of wood] as high as the jack will go and put the stands on the rear axle hope this helps you out
