Pics of Stepside bed

Hey Guys, I looking for some pictures of the braces on a stepside bed. Mine had a sheet of metal put in it at some point and I'm not sure what brace are factory and what are not. Some of the braces i have in mine look like channel iron. ( u shaped, much thicker than the front and back that i know is factory). Is there some kind of angle pieces on the side to hold the wood down? Looking at parts book isn't helping me.Thanks in advanced, Josh

Re: Pics of Stepside bed

I have a fleetside so these pictures are from someone else's stepside. The bolts that go through the metal strips between the wood hold the wood down to the cross members ( you can see some of the nuts and washers in the middle of the first picture of a 69 ) - the large bolts with big washers in the second picture of a 68, go right through the wood, into the frame to hold ALL of it down. You can see their nuts and washers underneath, at the very end of the frame at the top of the first picture ( rear of the truck )

Re: Pics of Stepside bed

Here are a couple more pictures I found in my "FILES" that might help you. The first is of a 68 FLEETSIDE with the wood taken out and the second is an underneath shot of another FLEETSIDE bed that is completely off the truck, which shows four of the "hold-down bolt's" washers and nuts at the top of the picture, about a foot in from each side. In that picture you can get a better view of the nuts and washers going through the crossmembers that hold the metal strips down . . . and there are A LOT OF THEM !!! I'm almost ready to tackle this project myself, on my wood bed.
