R10=1987 Chevy C-10 pick-up, 1987-1991 Chevy C-10 Suburban/Blazer
R30=1987-1991 1-ton crewcabs and duallys
V10=1987 Chevy K-10 pick-up, 1987-1991 Chevy K-10 Suburban/Blazer
V20=1987-1991 K-20 Chevy Suburban.
Essentially, GM just renamed the old style models because 1988 the new body style pick-ups were introduced. Crewcabs, duallys, blazers and suburbans were of the old body style to 1991.
Correct me if i missed something?

If your truck is a 87 then its fuel injected most of the check engine light would fall under emissions. before I pulled out the 305tbi the light would just about stay on after a new MAP sensor , EGR valve, vacume lines. There is a trick to use a paper clip in the data port under the dash this will get the check engine light to flash the codes. Mabey someone else on here can tell you about the paper clip trick.

the ALDL (Assembly Line Data Link) connector is indeed below the dash on the driver's side, you connect the upper right two pins to get the SES light to flash codes.
Looking at the connector, the pins are:
__________
|F E D C B A|
|G H J K L M|

Pin A is ground, pin B is the diagnostic test terminal. Use a paper clip to connect these.
