Grille.....

Is it possible to get a grille reconditioned? I have a 69 Grille that is original to my truck that has seen better days but it is really the worst thing on the truck. I would very much like to keep all the original parts. Is this possible? Even if it has some deep pitting and scratches? Is there some place local that I could have sumthin like that done?

Yes, I wish I would of kept my original grill as I later learned that there are shops around that restore grills, trim, ect. and its amazing how good some of these craftsmen are!!! Pitting and scratches can be dealt with as long as there is still enough material to work with. You should be able to find a shop around Toronto, just make sure to get some sort of reference and have a look at some of their work they are doing on other pieces when you go to their shop. I just asked that question at a chrome shop, they do polishing as well, are you sitting down, they wanted 350-400 bucks to polish it

thats about the price to buy a reproduction 69 grille from LMC 0r Chevy Duty...ouch...but I will pay if I can keep it stock...

You can buy the grilles from your local GM dealer still. About $450-$500 CDN I think.

They look just a tad different around the turn lights though. If I don't point it out you probably won't notice where its different.

I'd be a little suspicious of the dealers parts now, I think alot of them are after markets sold as dealer, my son got a grill shell for his 77 f-150 from ford,wraped in ford paper, and that thing is after market, you can tell when you compare it to the original, it looks to dinsile to me, there all getting in on the act, just my suspicion

Well the ones from GM look just like the ones you can get at Chevy Duty and some other places that sell aftermarket.

I think I would buy a repo. I thought mine looked good until I started sanding. Started with 50 grit and in this photo up to 150. Still did not get alot of spots out. still working up to 220...320...400...600....then buff.
