Yes, I think it is easier. Make sure the box is centered too.

When I took the old Gear box and Pitman arm off I did it as one unit with the wheels slightly turned to the right. I just was wondering if there is any way to get it wrong as well.

There are little gaps in the teeth that mesh with the apposing gaps in the pitman arm. As long as they are aligned correctly, you shouldn't have a problem. WES

There is no problem getting it on correctly. It helps to put the pitman arm on the gearbox & then put it in the center link. It is easier to line up that way & it carries some of the weight.

thx, I was worried that since the wheels were not perfectly straight I could maybe put the teeth in the wrong alignment and cause some type of issue such as lock to lock not being equal or something of that order. Thx guys.

id take the old pitman arm off while the old box is still attached to the frame. that way if you need to use the old pitman arm you wont have to try to take it off on the bench. not all pitman arms are timed the same.

They only go on in 4 possitions 90 degrees apart. There is no problem getting it on right. If its not on center it will be in the tie rod sleeves.
