6 lug rotors/hub
Hey there! I'm doing some work on my 72. I had to change the rear end after the original exploded and now have a six lug rear. Could I either put my original axles in there, or. Is there a six lug rotor and hub I can swap in up front? I haven't been digging yet and I'm sure that one of you guys has been here already!

The original axles won't fit. They're too long I believe. You can buy conversion axles to make it 5 lug again but they're pricey IMO. I know you can buy 6 lug disc conversions, but I don't know if you can buy just the rotors.

You can buy direct fit 6-lug rotors from Early Classic Enterprises or Performance Online.com.
I would find a different rearend or put 5-lug axles in it. Some of the 1970 trucks have the wider rearend. If your new "6-lug" rearend was a 1970 version,... your old 5-lug axles with fit. (some say the 1970 model year you could get both the wide or narrow housing with 6-lug axles) My '70 stepside has the wide housing.

Thats some good information! Performanceonline has the rotors with and without hubs. it looks like the hub is part of the rotor on the 72, on the rear end would there be a casting number anywhere to id the part? i had a heck of a time finding one when i shotgunned mine! I blew about a 6 inch hole through the bottom of the original-you might say a catastrophic failure!

I'll check with my machine shop on getting the hubs redrilled for 5's. How has that held up for? That would be the most econical way to go

What youll notice with the 67-70 rear end is that the tires tuck in more in the rear now than they do the front. if youre ok with that, then I dont see a problem redrilling. if you got lucky though and got a later 70 rear end, do an axle swap. so measure before redrilling
