reconditioning glass?

we have all seen hazy dull or lightly scratched glass before, is there any way i can shine/clear it up? im looking at getting a solid rear glass and most i have found are straight up nasty.

Auto glass comes in two basic types; laminated and tempered. Tempered glass may get scratched, but it won't get hazy. Minor scratches can be polished out, but you may need to take it to a glass house to get it done. Laminated type consists of two layers of glass with a film membrane between the glass. Old age causes laminated glass to become hazy, usually around the edges first, then creeping farther in as time progresses. This is caused by the three layers starting to pull apart so that moisture and crud gets between the layers.. Nothing can be done with this except to replace it.

so for tempered glass what polishing compound would you recommend?

and which type is the rear solid glass?

Check with your local auto parts store. They should have a polishing compound available which will probably have to be used with a power buffer. As to which is which, if it's getting hazy/cloudy, it's laminated and can't be cleared up. Clean thoroughly to see if anything clears up or comes off first. If it stays cloudy, look for a replacement.

By the way, flat glass can be cut by any decent glass house at a reasonable price.
