Zombie Hunter Project.........
Ok so here it goes. I am new to the board and have been watching and trying to learn as much as i can wince I have been coming here. So a little story behind how I got my truck and then I will post some pics as well as my friends truck that lives down the street from me. I think we might build 2 or 3 of these at the same time so it should be interesting to watch.
So I own a 72 longbed that I wanted to buy around 11 years ago from a neighbor a couple of streets over, I even went as far as to sell my car and made it to his house to buy it but then my GF at the time told me I shouldn't buy it so being the idiot I was I passed up on the deal. He was only asking like 2000 for it. So after some moving around and getting a new GF, I was working on my 51 Chevy Styleline and my 69 Lincoln Continental. I ended up selling the 51 and was working on come of the stuff for the Lincoln when my old neighbor that I had not seen in over 10 years stopped by to talk to me while charging my battery and I had told him that I always wanted his 72 and that it sucks that he sold it. To my surprise he informed me that he still had the truck on hid other property and that if I was still interested in it that he would sell it to me for $500. So of course I ran to the bank and got the cash and bought it right then. Sight unseen.......... |

Re: Zombie Hunter Project.........
I went to get the truck while was only about 10 minutes away and tooka battery and a can of gas with me. After about 10 minutes I started the truck and drove it back to my house where my lincoln was in the driveway. As I approached the house my brakes went out on the truck and I lightly ran it head on into the lincoln
Thankfully not alot of damage was donr to the truck and there was no damage done to the lincoln. |

Re: Zombie Hunter Project.........
My truck does have factory air but I will need to get it working again also the dash lights dont work so I will have to work on them to figure out what is going on.
The rocker panels are rotted out but I have already bought new panels to replace them. I also noticed that I have all the male ends tot he seat belts but I dont have any of the female ends but I work at the salvage yard under contract and found a 67 that I pulled the seatbelts from. the dame 67 cab is in decent condition so I might see if someone on here might need it. Not sure how much they want for it since I am only under contract to sell parts for them but I can find out if anyone is interested. I will try and get some pictures up here soon. By the way I also found 3 other projects that I am hoping to pick up in the next couple days. I warn you that this might be a slow project considering I dont have a lot of tools to work on this because of some petty thieves. So I will be working on this truck from the change in my pocket lol. |

I am also going to look around for another grill for the front of the truck, I talked to the guy I bought my truck from and he has a pull behind trailer made up of a 70 c10 bed and axle so I was thinking of picking that up to kinda figure out how I could make a matching hauler. I will also get some pics today of my friends green 72 that he is working on here at the house as well. As far as future plans I only live about an hour from Airride Technologies so I figured this week I would go talk with them to see about doing some kind of drop still not sure if I want to go static drop or not. |

Re: Zombie Hunter Project.........
I actually got the halo lights from a guy on ebay. When I got them in one of them was cracked and he instantly sent out another one to replace it.
His website is Mikeschevy.com and his ebay name is Chevyracer57 |

Re: Zombie Hunter Project.........
Ok.....so I started working on the 72 today and was working on trying to get most of the motor undone so I could add on the new parts. Now I will get to the interesting part of this.
We started taking off all the lines and hoses so that I was able to get the valva covers off and also working towards getting the manifold off of it as well so we could apply new parts to the motor now keep in mind that I have been driving this truck for the last couple months with very little issues now comes the fun in the way of pictures..... |

Re: Zombie Hunter Project.........
That's nasty. You're going to need more than an intake and gasket to fix that. That 327 sounds like a good idea about now. BTW, even with the issues on the engine, the rust, etc, you got a screaming deal on this truck. The seat alone is almost worth what you paid for it.

Re: Zombie Hunter Project.........
So after checking out the motor I found out that it wasn't a chevy 350 but a chevy 305 so I knew that I needed to get a 350 motor to drop into it.
After making a few calls I was on my way to pick up a early 70's corvette 350. Now I am feeling alot better |

Re: Zombie Hunter Project.........
oh and we are still trying to figure out exactly how we are going about building this truck but I will make sure to keep up with plenty of pics and descriptions of what we are doing along the way.
Right now I am the owner of the truck but I have my best friend and other friend working on it as well. I have a habit of picking up project vehicles but this one really got me interested so I went for it. There are alot of plans for the truck but some of them might take a lot longer than some of the other guys on here since I am working off a next to nothing budget for this truck. |
