Re: Where can I find Door Hinge Friction Pads?

I make my own with brake lining material. They are easy to make and the pads last for a long time.

Re: Where can I find Door Hinge Friction Pads?

The old friction pads are a little thicher than a new brake shoe. You might have to file then down a little. As far as attaching, they kind of press into the little square holders fit into and the way the fit into the door and the blade thingiee keeps them secure. Just study the old ones and you will see how they fit. Pretty simple.

Re: Where can I find Door Hinge Friction Pads?

Oh yes I, took a Dremel cutting disk to cut out a square the same size as and old one and then just pried it off the brake shoe.. Broke a few prying them off till I got one in the size of an old one.

Re: Where can I find Door Hinge Friction Pads?

I would take enough to do my two trucks (doors freely swing open and shut) but put me in line behind Arl37. Send a PM when possible if that's cool with board rules. Pete

Re: Where can I find Door Hinge Friction Pads?

Friction pads are the two pads in the upper hinge that presson the small arm that keep the doors open. They used them on vans up into the mid 90's.

Found them on the website above for 1.51 apiece but shipping was 10 dollars. They didn't have our trucks listed on the exploded views but my guess these are parts GM has used for lots of other vehicles besides our trucks. Just ordered 4. If I get them and they don't work I'll comment back but here's hoping the part number is still good.

Re: Where can I find Door Hinge Friction Pads?

Got a note back from the website I ordered them from and they refunded my money saying they no longer carry that part. Bummer, I'll have to keep hunting.

I'll try to dig up the contact info for the AZ dealership that I ordered these from...
