Can OEM Door Handles be polished like new from slightly pocked?
ive got some chrome door handles, oem for a 70' that are slightly pocked... i was just wondering if its possible to polish these to new again using one of those power ball like things? every dollar counts at this point and i wouldnt mind just polishing mine if it saves a buck.

if they are pitted and you get aggressive with polishing them the chrome is thin and you end up with bare metal pitted doorhandles

The pitting is oxidation on the metal coming up through the plating. Just like paint, the only way to refinish the metal is to go through the finish. The pitting can be removed and the part re-plated.

Okay, question two then, if I've repolished some chrome lugs and they are rusting easily, is there anything I can soak them in to inhib the flash rusting?

Well, clear won't hold up on lugs too well. If you can get them cleaned up,heavy waxing is your best bet. You need to seal the pores on chrome. Actually, some mineral oil would do well, but draw dirt. Just keep cleaning and putting oil back on.
