..getting ready to put some in resto 72 custom..hoping you fellows can recommend a name brand that y'all have had success with..
I'm ordering some parts from LMC today, wondering if theirs is any good..No name just called "multi-purpose": 3/8" thick x 4ft x 6ft $30.

I'll be doing the same thing this weekend. I can't really answer your question because I haven't done it yet, but here is what the LMC multi-purpose insulation looks like waiting to be installed. I'm planning on using it as needed in addition to the LMC insulation /sound deadening kit.

Is that the 4'x6'x3/8" ? and do you think it's top-grade?

Geee...I think is was 50 sq ft. To be honest I can't rememember but I am well satisfied with it...

It looks OK to me. Here's a closer picture. I don't really have anything to compare it to. It does seem that most guys recommend something else like B-quiet or Fatmat.

I used something similar to b-quiet. I found it in the roofing section at Home Depot. It came in an 8" or so wide roll. It did smell like a freshly poured asphalt road in my truck for a while but it stuck well, stretched a little to hug the floor, and made the truck quieter. I'm sure someone will say it contains carcinogens but I'm a risk taker.

I suggest using the BQuiet, Fatmat, or similar PLUS the foil backed padding you have from LMC. The LMC stuff does great for heat or cold "insulation" and not so well for sound deadening. I used both on the back wall, floor, and as far up the firewall as I could. Then carpeted as well. I used the sound deadening material on the back of my door panels too. I have a 454 that is pretty loud. when I first go tthe truck I had to drive home 4 hours with no interior work done yet. I literally couldn't get the stereo loud enough! Now it's very quiet, and warm in the cold Montana winters.

I think I might use Lizard skin down the road.. It's a sprayable deadener..

If You were close to me I e two rolls that they use in cold weather shipping keeps product from freezing has aluminum on both sides with air pockets between works great and cost was nothing

You might want to use product called Peel-N- Seal.You can get it at Lowes,it's inexpensive and works great!
