Door Glass Question

What is the best way to remove the glass from the sash channel without breaking the glass?

I'll take a stab at this but I warn you, it either comes out without hardly trying or you fight and cuss for 20 minutes!

1. Remove inner door panel
2. Remove wing vent from door
3. Loosen rear glass chanel brace and push back towards latch end of door.

#2 and #3 will allow you to slide glass back and forth so that hopefully you can get the plastic regulator rollers out of the channel. There is a spot in the channel that is designed for this feat.

The way I read your question is different from Jeff's. As I understand the question, you have the window out of the door and you want to remove the sash from the glass.

Anyway, what I do to remove the sash from the glass is have someone hold the the glass while you use a block of wood to tap the sash off of the glass. Tap along the sash until it loosens and it will usually come off quite easily. Tha sash is held onto the glass by a press fit and the insulator kind of sticks to the glass.

If you lay the window on a blanket, it makes it easier for your helper to hold it as you tap against the sash. A 1"x1" piece of pine 6-8" long works well. A hammer is used against the wood
with the wood held up to the sash.
