Re: Is this an Eaton?

looks like it from pic, should be 8 lug, and one axle is longer than other. very tough, used in rock crawling buggies some. mostly found in 3/4, 1 tons.

Re: Is this an Eaton?

I had a Eaton in my 72 3/4 ton 4x4. Every time I made a right turn it would snap my neck and bark the right rear tire and it was 33 inches tall tire. I sent it to three different shops and they all said the axel was fine.

I swopped in a Dana 60 with a limited slip and the truck drove so much better. I couldn't believe a axle could make that much difference in the manners of the truck.

Re: Is this an Eaton?

Your Eaton likely had a Detroit Locker in it. They are a fairly aggressive locker, that will pop and jerk when turning corners. That was a fairly common installation in these Eatons.
