Mini-spool? Posi for the poor man?

Anyone try running with a mini-spool? Am I better off just bucking up and getting a posi rear? Got to do something to put some teeth into the road!!!

Any thoughts?

From what I have heard... you dont do that unless you want to break stuff... and have a crappy handeling truck... but thats what I've herd from the circle trackers in my home.

special70gmc - I dont understand why you cant keep you Dana 60 with 4.10s and have a posi. I have a Dana 60 with 4.10s and I have a Power lock posi sitting in my room waiting for me to find the time to put it in. And with that posi I will have the strongest production axle with the strongest production posi to go it in. Not a bad combo if you ask me.

Yeah, I would have to agree. I would not consider putting a spool of any kind into a rear end of anything but a drag car. You'll be chirpin going around corners and loading up on slight curves. I would say go with a good locker, and try to read up or ask a couple questions before throwing in a good locker, there is more to doing a rear end than just bolting everything together. We got an Eaton Pro series locker and new 3.73's in my girlfriends truck, I love it. No more "one tire 'o' fire" when your gettin into it.

Go with the powr-lok, their re-builable. I like mine. I have a copy of the dana60/70 powr-lok service manual in the link in my signature.

Tracy Focht - They run around $300. Check on ebay, theres a few on there from time to time. Just remember to get the right carrier series...3 Series for 4.10s and down (numerically lower), 4 Series for 4.56 and up. I think US Gear also makes a 4.30 for the 3 Series but they cost more for those gears.
