72 C10 Project
New guy here just bought my 72 C10 about a month ago. Found this site while looking for a truck. A lot of good information on here! Figured I would share a few pictures with everybody. Nothing to special about it. Been lowered and is back halved with 4 link. Little back story on how I ended up with it. Sold another project car I had that need more work, money and skill than I have to complete. So I set out to find something that didn't need as much work as the other project I had. Always like the body style of the 67-72 and so happen that a good friend of mine ended up with a 72 swb with a 402 in it! I started looking around on Craigslist and came across this one the first couple days I was looking. I talked myself out of contacting the guy about it cause it was more than I wanted to spend at the time. But after looking for a couple weeks and not finding anything that was to my liking I contacted the guy to set up a time to look at it. I went and looked at it on one weekend and went back the next and bought it! I ended up buying it without the motor in it. I had a 355 that I had built a few years ago that I put in it. Here are the pics.

Re: 72 C10 Project
Thanks guys! Yeah the pro street look was what drew me to it. I will get some more pics up. I'm not very good at remembering to take them! lol Just pulled the rearend cover off tonight to find about 5-6 ring gear teeth laying in the bottom. Oh well was going to change them anyways I guess.

Re: 72 C10 Project
Going to take the gears out tonight and see what the damage is. Need to figure out what carrier I have too so I can order the right gears for it. Thinking I will go with 3.73's. On a cool note got invited to have the truck in the local homecoming parade in a couple weeks! Gives me some motivation to get her going!

Re: 72 C10 Project
Well finally located some gears for it. Going to try and get them installed tonight. Found 8 teeth broken off of the old ring gear. So those will be going in the scrap pile lol It has a Eaton posi track in it too. Try and remember to take some pics tonight too.

Re: 72 C10 Project
Well been a little while since I posted anything. Finally got the gears in it. Went with 3.73's. Not to bad but could use overdrive! Got to drive it in the homecoming parade last Friday night. That was pretty cool. She didn't overheat or break down so that was a plus! Everybody was wanting me to do a burnout! lol I didn't though to many people around if something went wrong. Here are a few pics of it.

Re: 72 C10 Project
Well I little bit of an update. I deiceded to go a different route with the truck. I cut the back half of the truck off and sold it. Was going to tube out the back half of the truck but deiceded to buy another frame instead. So I've been ordering some parts for it. Going to 4 link the rear with air bags. Bought some new wheels for it. Going with some 20" Showwheels. Thank to Travis (Street3285) at AZ Pro Performance for the wheels and 4 link kit! Try to get some pictures soon. Being that the truck is now an hour and half away from where I'm living now! Hope to get it back together in a couple months.

Re: 72 C10 Project
Here a couple pictures... First one is after cutting the back half off. Second is the frame I bought. And the third is the wheels for it. Hope to get up there this weekend to work on the frame some more. Has on bad spot that needs repaired. I got one side of the c notch done this past weekend. Going to box in around the c notches and down the frame to behind the cab I think.

Re: 72 C10 Project
Well a little progress on the project. Got the cab swapped over to the new frame. Fixed the bad spot in it and boxed it in. Got the 4 link almost done in there rear. Going to cut off the rear part of the frame since it is bent up. Ordered a disc brake conversion kit for the rear. Hope to get the frame work and bed back on this weekend. But I'm sure something else will show up as it always does! lol

Re: 72 C10 Project
I'm getting closer to being able to drive it. Got my transmission back from the shop and got it put in. Just a lot of little stuff that will take some time to finish. Hope to get it done this weekend. Or at least be able to get it started up. On another note I bought me another toy last weekend. lol Bought a 2012 Polaris RZR 800 S LE! Can't wait to get it out and see what she will do.

Re: 72 C10 Project
Well finally got around to loading some pictures. Couple of when I was working on the frame and rear suspension. And one when I finally got it out to drive on Sunday before the rain hit. Still have a few things to work out yet but I can drive it now. Need to do something with the bed floor and get some door gaskets.

Re: 72 C10 Project
wow, !!! ask to do a burn out and did not. Be very careful here you will be an adult very soon if this behavior continues. Love the way it sits and the rear meats should hook you up very well, welcome aboard
