Will these work with my Blazer? Buddy Buckets

Just found these on CL. I talked to the guy and he dosen't think they fold forward but do any buddy buckets fold forward?

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/pts/2583436557.html

Hopefully some one can give me the 411 on these so I can go buy them.

Thanks!

They will bolt in, but they won't fold forward. You might be able to fab up something so they can, but it would probably be easier to get some stock buckets and build the "buddy" seat between them.

Re: Will these work with my Blazer? Buddy Buckets

My wife has given me approval to buy what ever seats I can find as long as she can "slide over baby". I need to locate some stock buckets or a buddy bucket set up soon.

If anyone has a line on anything please let me know.

Re: Will these work with my Blazer? Buddy Buckets

The Chev/GMC/Dodge "Buddy" seat option consisted of 2 special fixed (non-folding) low-back buckets, a 3rd middle "buddy" seat who's back cushion folded down as an armrest and who's bottom cushion folded up to reveal a storage compartment beneath, all attached to one common bench style steel frame. The drivers bucket did have slider tracks, while the passenger seat was bolted to the frame and completely non-adjustable. This option was offered in early Dodge pickups and 1967-68 GM pickups, with the only variation being a slight difference in the frame. Yes it could work in the Blazers except two issues. 1) Without some type of folding of pivoting mechanism on either bucket, there's no way for passengers to climb into the Blazer's back seat except "up and over". 2) The middle buddy seat back cushion continues to flop backwards on its piano hinge toward the rear, without the pickups bulkhead immediately behind it for support in the "up" position. Search the general 67-72 board with keyword "buddy" for plenty more info and pictures. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ght=buddy+seat

Many of the late model full size extended cab pickups have what you need. 94+ Dodge Ram and 99+ Silverado/Sierra extended cab front benches (called "40/20/40" style) are a popular mod for the 69-72 Blazer since they're a 3 place bench design who's backs fold forward so passangers can climb past them into the back seat. A few of the newer styles even have shoulder harnesses built right into the seat backs so that modern concern is handled easily & efficiently.

The more I've thought about it I think I'm going to build a middle seat between the ones I have. Might be much more cost effective.

You could always use a stock bench seat

If you get one out of a 67 or 68 the back tilts forward

Re: Will these work with my Blazer? Buddy Buckets

Some stock benches fold forward and some don't. I have a folding one in my 67 but have had a hard time finding a folding one in other 67 and 68's so I don't think they all had them.

Here's what I'm working with. I think I can build a frame out of tube and have some one slab some matching fabric on it......maybe.

Re: Will these work with my Blazer? Buddy Buckets

Sorry for bringing an old post back to life but this the exact boat im in now. Any updates or new ideas. I want a center seat for a car seat so I don't have the hassle of taking her in and out of the back seat. and so I can have to back seat out and still take the wife and baby somewhere.

Re: Will these work with my Blazer? Buddy Buckets

I'm going to build a center seat this winter. I'll post pictures when it's done.

Re: Will these work with my Blazer? Buddy Buckets

I think I'm going the same route. The cost for buddy buckets are crazy. I found one local for 450 but needs to be completely redone. Thats way out of my price range

Hopefully my seat turns out OK or I'll be looking for some buddy buckets!
