Unhappy Suggestions on BIG TIME screw up

I tried to pull the balancer on with a CHEAP-A$$ Mr. gasket bolt, and guess what happened. It broke!! But it is the darnest thing, it went on really easy, but when I tried to back the bolt out, snap. Any suggestions on how to remove? I was able to get the balancer back off though. BTW the engine is on a stand and not in the truck yet. Thank God.

Time to pul out the channel locks. locking pliers if you have enough bolt sticking out and also have someone hold therear flextplate so you can turn it if its broken off inside drill and a tap and die set. .so did you use a impact tool to put the bolt in if so did you use any lubricant to keep it cool thats probably why it broke if you didnt use anything to coat it.

Drill and easy out is next. Don’t use the long spiral ones except as a last resort, get a set for pipefittings and plugs. They to have spirals but are very short in length and less prone to breakage. Think auto zone carries them.

Can you weld another short bolt to the broken bolt without screwing up anything around it???

That's usually my method I hate using pliers and vice grips they usually just turn on the broken bolt. and drilling and easyout is such a lot of work.

good luck.

If you are doing the welding procedure go to your local welding shop and tell them your problem.

Can't remember what it was called, but we used some rod that you can weld down in holes, attaching a nut at the top and brings things like that right out.

The coating on the rod protects things as the bolt is pulled back out.

WOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Welded a nut to it, tightened, backed out, tightened, backed out, etc...... Finally the little booger came out. Now I will wait until I get the tool to put the balancer back on. Starting the engine swap Wednesday night.
